Microsoft updates Yammer apps for Android, iOS, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8

Microsoft announced plans to release new versions of its various Yammer apps back in October with additional features. Today, Microsoft made good on those statements as it revealed that the Android, iOS, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 versions of its business-themed social networking apps have now all received significant updates.

In a post on the Yammer blog, Microsoft goes over what"s new in each of the new versions. The iOS update is now compatible with iOS 7, but the iPad version has also received a full redesign. Microsoft stated, "It’s more streamlined and the new design promotes easier tracking of unread group messages, so now you can browse through new messages in your Groups in addition to your Inbox."

Both the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 ports have added notifications and Live Tile support for the first time, letting uses view updates without opening the apps themselves. The Windows 8 version includes support for Snap mode and lets users access and participate in Group Feeds. The Windows Phone 8 app also finally adds an Inbox along with Group search.

Finally, the Android Yammer app has received a redesign that"s more in keeping with similar apps for Google"s mobile operating system. It also can detect a device"s native language and adjust its interface accordingly.
