Microsoft clearly wants to get the word out about its Windows Phone devices. The mobile operating system, despite solid reviews, is still not getting much love from the general public in terms of sales. However, the company has been trying to do some out-of-the-box marketing for Windows Phone such as the recent "Smoked by Windows Phone" campaigns and more recently the Droid Rage Twitter campaign.
Now Microsoft is asking for Windows Phone fans for their marketing and PR ideas. In a post on the official Windows Phone web site, it states, "We’re looking for ad concepts, contest ideas, social media campaigns, and whatever other wacky but worthwhile ideas you can up with ..."
Suggestions are now being taken over at the Windows Phone web site; suggestions are limited to 25 words or less. In addition, Microsoft"s lawyers have put in a disclaimer: "Please do not send any novel or patentable ideas, copyrighted materials, samples or demos which you do not want to grant a license to Microsoft."
Some of the more interesting suggestions from consumers include giving Android and iPhone users a way to pay for early termination fees if they switch to a Windows Phone device, more product placement in movies and TV shows and create a TV ad campaign based on the Smoked by Windows Phone Internet campaign.
