On Sunday, Microsoft opened pre-orders for its new Xbox One X, starting with the Project Scorpio Edition console that it announced on the same day. The Scorpio model - which gets its name from the console"s development codename - is a limited edition console that Microsoft said is "designed for our biggest fans".
Today, Microsoft said that it had seen "record-setting sell-out times" for the Project Scorpio Edition, which is already sold out in many markets around the world. The good news is that gamers eager to get their hands on the "most powerful console ever" will have another opportunity to get their pre-orders in, ahead of its launch on November 7, as Microsoft"s Mike Nichols explained:
Although our fans may no longer be able to pre-order the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition in their country, we know people are still anxious to get their hands on the world’s most powerful console. We will be announcing details of the next wave of Xbox One X standard edition pre-orders next month so stay tuned for more information.
It"s not yet clear if Microsoft will immediately open pre-orders for the "standard edition" of the console when it makes its announcement in September, or if gamers will have to wait a bit longer after that. The standard Xbox One X will be priced at $499 - the same price as the Project Scorpio Edition.
