We"ve all been there. When Windows 10 is trying to download and install a big update, it takes a long time, and sometimes you"ll have to shut down or reboot your PC before it"s finished. Once you boot back up, you"ll find an error message in Windows Update with a "Retry" button, and it"s time to start the process over.
But according to a report from Windows Central"s Andy Weir, that"s all about to change. Soon, you"ll be able to resume the download/install process, instead of starting from scratch.
This is good news for just about everyone. Many users have slower connections and older PCs that would take longer to install these updates, but even those with fast connections might find themselves traveling and on slow hotel Wi-Fi, which might disconnect from time to time.
The news came from Windows Insider head Dona Sarkar, and she wasn"t specific about when this feature will actually be available. But the good news is that, at some point, if you have to throw your laptop in your bag while an update is still at 50% downloaded, it will still be at 50% when you open the device back up.
