Microsoft Windows iSCSI 1.0 Beta Program Starts

Dear Microsoft iSCSI Beta Tester,

Welcome to the Beta 2 release of the Microsoft iSCSI initiator and iSNS Server.

We will be providing support for the beta program through newsgroups and BetaPlace. BetaPlace is Microsoft"s technical beta web community where you can:

  • Download the beta release

  • Report bugs online

  • View status of your bugs

  • Receive up to date program information and downloads

  • Update your contact information

  • Obtain general beta testing guidelines and information

    To access BetaPlace, go to https://www.betaplace.com. Sign in using your Beta ID and Password listed below. If this is your first time logging into BetaPlace, you will need to associate your beta id with a Net Passport account. Be sure to keep this information on hand, as you will need to include it in all correspondence with the Microsoft Beta Group regarding your program, as well as to log on to BetaPlace.

    Above is part of the email to alert testers that Microsoft Windows iSCSI 1.0 Beta 2 has begun. Essentially the iSCSI standard approved by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) allows connections between data storage and facilites not physically connected but connected by LAN/WAN and the internet across long distances. It enables companies to quickly retrieve massive amounts of data stored at distant locations.

    Also note that the iSCSI driver itself is complied from Windows Server 2003 build 3788 which is currently in escrow.
