Microsoft won't roll out any Windows 10 Fast ring builds this week, due to 'blocking bug'

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced details of its next major update for the Xbox One and Xbox One S. Dubbed "the Fall update", rather than the Fall Creators Update, its first preview has already made its way to Xbox Insiders in the bleeding-edge Alpha ring.

Windows Insiders in the Fast ring were also hoping to get their hands on a shiny new Windows 10 preview this week, but their hopes have sadly been dashed. Windows Insider chief Dona Sarkar has confirmed that there won"t be any more Fast ring builds until next week at the earliest:

#WindowsInsiders: we found a blocking bug in our internal testing and won"t be flighting a Fast Ring build this week. Have a great week.

Microsoft"s Jason Howard also said: "Found bug in internal testing that was bad. More testing showed big impact." Bugs like these can cause serious issues when upgrading to a new build, and often prevent users from being able to successfully upgrade to future builds without encountering further problems. Evidently, Microsoft needs some time to deal with this latest bug before it"s ready to begin flighting new builds again. Better safe than sorry.

The most recent Windows 10 preview in the Fast ring was build 16257, which made its way to PCs last week with a range of improvements and new features. Among the additions in that build was the first implementation of Windows 10"s new Eye Control feature, which is designed to help users - particularly those with disabilities - to interact with the OS simply by using their eyes.

Microsoft also rolled out build 16251 to the Slow ring last week, and more recently, it released ISOs for that build too.
