Nearly six months ago in early October, Microsoft surprised everyone by announcing that its in-house Edge browser will be coming to iOS and Android. While it was made publicly available the next month, the app was still missing key features like tablet support.
The feature showed up in the iOS preview a week and a half ago, and now it"s finally available to everyone. If you"ve got an iPad or an Android tablet, you can now download Edge from the App Store or the Play Store, respectively.
Edge on iOS and Android uses the rendering engines that are specific to those platforms, rather than EdgeHTML. This is a requirement for all browsers on iOS, which uses WebKit. The app on Android utilizes Blink, the same rendering engine that you"ll find powering Chrome.
Obviously, the key benefit to using Edge on your mobile devices is to create a unified experience. All of your passwords, history, bookmarks, and more will sync across those devices when you sign in with your Microsoft account. Microsoft also boasts features like Reading List, Reading View, and more.
If you want to download Edge on your tablet, you can find it in the App Store here, or in the Play Store here.
