When Windows 8 launched, Microsoft released an app called Fresh Paint that the company used as a flagship product to show off its store. The app, which was featured in commercials and plenty of promotional material, is being updated for Windows 10.
Pushed recently to the beta app store, if you search "Fresh Paint Preview" in Windows 10, you can get your hands on the new app.
Listed below are the features built into this release:
- Intuitive UI, supporting touch, mouse, and stylus input
- Accelerated graphics rendering technology to provide the most realistic digital painting experience possible
- Import images, photos and even use your camera to capture an inspirational image to paint with
- Print your artworks with high definition
- Draw or paint with watercolor, oil, pencil and pastel
- Comes with two free activity packs for a fun "coloring book" experience
- Natural pressure sensitivity allows precise control of the thickness of brush strokes
Microsoft says that this is the first release of the preview, so expect bugs, crashing and the like that comes along with the first beta of any product. For us, the app has crashed a few times when trying to launch the app.
Once we were able to use Fresh Paint, we did have to remove and re-install the app, it works just like the Windows 8 version and allows you to "paint" with your mouse or pen too.
If you have used this app before, (which is quite popular with children) and want to try it out now, you can download it from the source link below.
