Microsoft's Taiwan website gets Mango 'coming soon' image

While Windows 8 may be getting a lot of attention over the next few days, Microsoft is also deploying another major update to its Windows Phone platform.

Microsoft has posted up a teaser image on its Taiwan website stating that Mango is coming soon, specifically on 9/9, via @MichaelGillett. The Mango information comes from the link which has taiwan/promo/wpmango/ in the URL.  Could this be an indication that Taiwan will be getting its hands on Mango tomorrow? While it certainly looks that way, there is no official confirmation from Microsoft on this site.

It was not long ago that the latest Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) devices were shown off which indicates that public consumption of the platform is not far off. Microsoft has been quiet about when existing Windows Phone devices will get the 7.5 update.

The 7.5 (Mango) update will bring over 500 new features to the Windows Phone platform and is heavily anticipated as it levels the playing field in the mobile OS market. For Microsoft, Mango is the next major update following NoDo.

The NoDo rollout experienced a few hiccups on its release and all eyes will be on Microsoft to make sure that they are capable of updating all of their devices without issue. Knowing this, you can be sure that Microsoft will not release the Mango updates until they are confident in their ability to get it right the first time.
