Microsoft last month launched a new Bing Wallpaper app for the desktop that brought the ability to set Bing’s daily images as the desktop wallpaper. The app lets users either choose from images from the last few days or let the app automatically change the wallpaper every day. For those that wanted this solution on Android can now download the app from the Google Play Store, as the Redmond giant has recently launched the Bing Wallpapers app on Android (spotted by AndroidPolice).
The Android app serves the same purpose as the desktop app – bringing Bing’s daily wallpapers to mobile. Users also have the option to choose from the previous images that have been featured on the website. Like the desktop version, the app can automatically change the home screen or lock screen wallpaper. As expected, it also provides users with more information about each image.
However, the Android version of the app brings added features such as the ability to search for images based on category, primary color, country of origin, and more. This is a nifty addition that gives users more options for the choice of the image. Interestingly, the app supports both, portrait and landscape mode, suggesting that it would work better on tablets as well. Other options include the ability to choose the update frequency of the wallpaper.
While users of Microsoft Launcher have always had the option to set Bing’s daily images as the wallpaper, the Bing Wallpapers app brings with it more granular options. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft ports any of these features to Launcher in the future. It must be noted, however, that the app is currently not available to Android users in all regions.
