Microsoft"s new Lumia 530 is rolling out to markets around the world as the most affordable Nokia Windows Phone ever, but the next model up in its range is also something of a bargain. The 4G Lumia 635 has seen its price drop to just $79.99 in the United States - albeit as part of a short-term promotion - while across the pond, in the UK, its 3G-only sibling is also available at a new low price.
The Lumia 630 is now available from Carphone Warehouse for just £89.95 on pay-as-you-go, plus a mandatory £10 top-up. The deal applies specifically to purchases made with a Vodafone SIM card; however, the overwhelming majority of handsets sold by Carphone Warehouse are unlocked, so you should be able to use any SIM with the device - although you should double-check with the retailer before purchase.
The Lumia 630 made a good impression on us when we reviewed it earlier this year, and includes:
- 4.5-inch FWVGA (854x480px) IPS LCD with Corning Gorilla Glass 3
- Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
- 512MB RAM
- 8GB onboard storage (plus microSD support up to 128GB)
- 5MP rear camera with 720p video recording
- 1830mAh battery
This appears to be the first time that the Lumia 630 has become available from one of Microsoft"s launch partners for £89.95 in the UK, despite a Microsoft press release in May claiming that the device would be available for this price at launch. As we noted back in July, however, none of the retailers or carriers that partnered with Microsoft for the rollout were selling the handset at that price.
