One of the biggest problems on the Windows Phone ecosystem is lack of quality apps. Trying to fix that Microsoft has just released Lync 2013 for Windows Phone 8, filling a pretty glaring hole in the markeplace.
Lync 2013 is an enterprise application that allows folks to connect to their companies" servers and offers VOIP, messaging and other communication features. The service used to be separate from Microsoft"s Skype but recently, the two are now being integrated to offer higher quality VOIP and video capabilities. This latest app is expected to receive further updates to bring it up to par with Microsoft"s other mobile offerings. More integration between Skype and Lync is also expected so users can look forward to numerous updates in the coming months.
Lync had already been a Windows Phone app but there was no support for the 2013 version so users of Microsoft"s latest and greatest had no access to it. Thankfully that has been solved, and folks can download the app from the Windows Phone Store for free.
