Microsoft's new Windows Phone TV ad takes the Nokia Lumia Icon for a bike ride

Microsoft is now officially a smartphone hardware company and, for obvious reasons, that means it"s more invested in getting people to purchase devices with Windows Phone than ever before. Today, the company uploaded a new TV ad for Windows Phone that shows how one of its acquired devices, the Nokia Lumia Icon, can handle some bumpy terrain.

Specifically, the one minute clip, as posted on YouTube, shows how the Lumia Icon films a day of intense mountain biking. The video not only captured bikers going at high speeds through the winding and twisting paths, but some of the clips were filmed while the Icon was mounted on the bikes themselves.

The idea is to show how the Icon"s many photo and audio features, such as its 20 megapixel camera, along with four microphones and image stabilization, can make a biking trip look a little more intense than normal.

This will likely be the first of many such TV commercials from Microsoft that directly promotes Nokia"s former smartphone products that are now officially under the umbrella of the folks in Redmond.
