Microsoft first announced big changes to Xbox avatars almost two years ago. Promising a ton of new customization options including accessibility options like wheelchairs, the feature has been delayed time and time again.
The good news is that it"s finally here. Starting at noon Pacific Time today, Xbox Insiders on the Alpha ring can try out the Avatar Editor app.
The new avatar options offer over 16 million colors, and color combinations can go up to 80 octillion. Fortunately, your recently used colors will be saved so you can reuse them.
And Microsoft says that there"s now an "unprecedented" amount of options when creating your avatar, ranging from different body types to gender-neutral clothing. You can customize fingernails, makeup, limbs, nose rings, and moods.
As mentioned earlier, you"ll need to test out the Avatar Editor to get the new features; however, Microsoft says that it will eventually be integrated with the Dashboard. The company didn"t specifically say when these new avatars will be available to everyone, but it did say that more new features will be on the way soon, with more customization options.
