Windows 8.1 will not only offer an update to Microsoft"s Windows 8 OS, it will also bring new versions for a number of the pre-installed Windows 8 apps. In a blog post today, Microsoft goes over what Windows 8.1 owners can expect when they use the new versions of the Photo and Camera apps in Windows 8.1, along with the all new Movie Moments app.
The blog post states that the Photo app will allow users to edit images from both their local PC hard drive as well as on their SkyDrive account, thanks to the fact that both apps share nearly the same code. Microsoft states:
The Windows 8.1 Photos app gives you beautiful full screen photo viewing and editing across all your Windows apps and the desktop. The one-tap edits not only let you quickly and easily pick from a set of auto-fixes that make your photo stunning but also provides the ability to edit and enhance your photos like a professional by removing blemishes and having fine control over brightness, hue, saturation, and more.
The new version of the Camera app will allow users to record video and then take a still picture without have to stop the clip from recording. The new photo loop feature will take images one second before and one second after a person presses the shutter button so that they can select the best picture from a list.
Windows 8.1 will also include the new Movie Moments app, which was first revealed when leaked builds of the OS started appearing on the Internet earlier this spring. Users can quickly edit home video clips with the app, along with putting in captions and music tracks to accompany the video.
