In the current version of the Microsoft Photos app, clicking on an image for viewing causes the background to turn from white to black. While this is an acceptable user interface (UI) design, Microsoft seems to be working on a minor visual improvement to its UI anyway that should still please users.
First spotted by Spanish blog site Microsofters today, the redesign will keep the white background of a photo once you click on it. This change seems to be limited in availability at this time as neither the Microsoft Store listing of the app nor its Android and iOS companion has yet to reflect the update. It"s also not clear in which territories the new UI design will be made available.
Nevertheless, the background will remain black like before when editing a photo so as to provide a distinction between viewing and editing an image. But with Windows 10"s dark theme that was first introduced in 2016, the new redesign may not be of any use if users decide to turn on that feature. Otherwise, it"s a welcome change especially after Photos for Windows 10 Mobile received a major update in February that introduced a new layout to the app, among other features.
