Microsoft held its X019 briefing today, and as expected, there were plenty of announcements around its Project xCloud game streaming service. Public testing for the service started exactly a month ago, and Google"s Stadia service launches next week, so it"s the perfect time for news.
For one thing, xCloud now supports over 50 games, compared to the previous four. You"ll now be able to play games like Madden NFL 20, Devil May Cry 5, and Tekken 7. You can check out the full list of games here. In 2020, however, you"ll be able to play all of the games that you own on the service, which answers some questions about which games will be playable.
But that"s not all. Microsoft announced that Project xCloud is coming to Windows 10 next year, and it still has the goal of reaching all of your devices. For now, it"s still exclusive to Android, and curiously, there was no word on iOS availability.
Another thing coming in 2020 is game streaming for Xbox Game Pass. This presumably includes streaming to your Xbox as well as other devices, so you"ll no longer have to download games before you play them.
And finally, the Project xCloud preview will be rolling out to more regions next year, including Canada, Western Europe, India, and Japan. Currently, it"s only in the U.S. and the UK. More invitations are rolling out today, just in case you"re not on the list yet. You"ll need a controller and a mount for your phone, and Microsoft confirmed that it"s adding more controller support, including Sony"s Dual Shock controllers.
