Microsoft may have just ended its BUILD Conference last week, but CEO Steve Ballmer will be speaking again at another big event next month, held by one of its biggest customers, Dell.
Ballmer will be making one of the keynote speeches at the first annual Dell World, a conference scheduled to be held in Austin, Texas on October 12-14. The event is being geared specifically for IT professionals.
Ballmer was busy giving speeches at the BUILD Conference along with the company"s annual analysts day where the main subject was the full public introduction of the upcoming Windows 8 operating system. It"s likely that Ballmer might have even more to reveal about Windows 8 at Dell World when he makes his keynote speech on Friday, October 14.
In addition to Ballmer, Dell World will feature a number of other major tech company executives as speakers. The agenda includes keynotes from Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini, VMware President and CEO Paul Martiz and Salesforce.com chairman and CEO Marc Benioff. Of course Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of his namesake company, will offer the first keynote address on October 13.
Since Dell World is being held primarily for IT professionals, it"s not likely that we will hear much about the consumer PC experience during the event, but we may learn more about what Dell plans to do with Windows 8 at the conference. Dell is still primarily a PC and server maker although it has tried to enter both the smartphone and tablet markets without much success.
