Microsoft wants to make its Mixer platform more safe for viewers, cutting down on harmful content and "toxic" behavior. The firm is implementing a Streamer Review system, the idea being that it can review the accounts of any streamer before ever letting you turn on your camera. Presumably, you can still stream without using your camera without being checked out first.
Today, Microsoft announced that the feature will launch on September 4. Moreover, if you"re already using a camera to stream, you"ll still have to submit to Streamer Review, and if you don"t do that before September 4, you won"t be able to stream. Because of this, the opt-in period starts on August 28, so you can be all sorted by the time this goes into effect. You just have to watch a Mixer Safety video and wait 24 hours.
But that"s not all, because there are restrictions going into effect on the viewer end as well. Streamers will be able to set criteria for those that want to use the chat on their channel. For example, you can set it so that the viewer has to be up to a certain level to use the chat.
There are also new Catbot moderation options. While there are already options for high, medium, low, and very low, you can now put viewers of different levels into different categories.
Once again, Microsoft also said that it"s killing off its Mixer Create app. The app will no longer be available as of August 28.
