It has been nearly a year since the release of the Surface Pro 3 and the device has been one of the best products to come out of Microsoft in quite some time. After nearly a year of being on the market, rumors point to a new Surface Pro 4 that could be on the horizon.
According to the folks at SlashGear, the Surface Pro 4 could see an announcement sometime in mid-May. Similar to the announcement of the Surface Pro 3, Microsoft will most likely hold an intimate special event for the upcoming tablet. Although leaks are always subject to scrutiny, the announcement of the Surface Pro 4 makes sense considering the Surface Pro 3 was launched nearly a year ago. If history is any indicator, if the Surface Pro 4 does make its debut in May, we should see an official release to retail channels sometime in June.
As previously reported, the Surface Pro 4 will retain much of what made the Surface Pro 3 a hit. The successor is rumored to utilize an Intel Core i-series CPU, but will also be completely fanless. This will allow the design of the Pro 4 to be much thinner. Naturally, we will have to wait until May to see if the rumors are true.
