Earlier this month, Microsoft held a major hardware event in New York City, announcing a wide range of new products including the Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 3, and Surface Pro X. It also previewed some new products, the dual-screen Surface Neo PC and the Android-powered Surface Duo phone. Today, the Surface Pro 7 and Laptop 3 are available for purchase.
As far as the Surface Pro 7 goes, there are two major changes, one of which is that it finally has a USB Type-C port. The other big change is that it now uses Intel"s 10th-generation "Ice Lake" processors. They"re the first CPUs from Intel built on a 10nm process, and if you get the Core i5 or i7 models, they come with Iris Plus Graphics.
The Surface Laptop 3 has similar improvements, adding a USB Type-C port and Intel Ice Lake processors. The bigger change though, is that there"s a 15-inch model. That one actually includes custom AMD Ryzen Surface Edition processors, although if you get the business model, it has Ice Lake.
The Surface Pro 7 starts at $749 for a Core i3-1005G1, 4GB RAM, and 128GB SSD. The Surface Laptop 3 starts at $999, and that gets you a Core i5-1035G7, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD, or the 15-inch model starts at $1,199 for an AMD Ryzen 5 3580U, 8GB RAM, and a 128GB SSD. The Surface Pro X will be available on November 5.
