In August, Samsung announced that the company is taking off Gallery Sync and Drive storage features on Samsung smartphones.
These Samsung Cloud features – namely, Gallery Sync, Drive, and Premium storage subscription - will be deprecated in favor of Microsoft OneDrive. Last year, Samsung and Microsoft had extended their strategic partnership and as part of the same, several popular Microsoft services, including OneDrive, are now deeply integrated on Samsung smartphones.
Starting today, Samsung Cloud users will be able to migrate their existing Gallery Sync and/or Drive data to OneDrive or they can download their data to their mobile device or PC. Note that if you choose the option to download your data to your mobile or PC, you will not be able to migrate your data to OneDrive. Also, once the migration or download is done, the data may be deleted prematurely even before the official end date.
The ability to move your data to OneDrive though may not be supported in certain countries or device models. You can read the specifics here.
You can migrate or download the data until April 1, 2021. Once the transition is done, your data will be deleted and if you have a premium storage subscription plan, this will automatically be canceled, and a refund will be issued to you.
