The popular block building (and destroying!) game, Minecraft, has finally arrived on the New Nintendo 3DS. The launch comes just a few months after the game became available on the Nintendo Switch. If you’re planning to get the game, you can only play it on the New 3DS and New 2DS, as older versions of the consoles aren’t compatible.
The new edition will let players take advantage of the consoles’ dual screens, with the world appearing up top and the items, map, etc in the bottom half. The game will create maps 2016x2016 blocks and allow you to go 128 blocks high – these maps are larger than what’s available in the Wii U edition. Players will also get five skin packs and two texture packs to give the game an aspect of customisability.
In its announcement, Mojang said:
“Multiplayer won’t be available at launch but we will be adding local multiplayer in a future update. This edition’s closest equivalent is 0.15.4 of Minecraft: Pocket Edition, and we’ll be continuing to update from there!”
Minecraft is available in the US on the Nintendo 3DS eShop right now and will soon be available to players in Europe. The game will set you back $29.99.
