It has been over six months since Telltale Games" closed its doors, and its effects are still being felt. The two Minecraft: Story Mode adventure games that Telltale developed based on Microsoft"s sandbox giant are the newest casualties.
An announcement posted on Minecraft.net today confirmed Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series, Season 1 and 2, will be pulled from almost all platforms on June 25. The named platforms were the following:
- Microsoft Windows
- macOS
- Xbox 360
- Xbox One
- PlayStation 3
- PlayStation 4
- PlayStation Vita
- Nintendo Switch
- Wii U
- Android
- iOS
Alarmingly, the message"s wording suggests even those who own the games won"t be able to download them after the delisting procedure, with the announcement urging players multiple times to download the episodes before they are discontinued. Those hoping to pick up physical copies will be out of luck as well, since they only carry Episode 1, and require players to download the rest.
It"s unclear how this new development will affect the Steam versions of the games, as they are still playable by owners even though they are not purchasable since last year. Usually, Steam games remain attached to user accounts even when they are removed from the store.
However, the delisting announcement does not mention Netflix, where the first five episodes of Season 1 exists as a streamable game.
