EA"s hugely popular action-adventure gaming series, Mirror"s Edge, is being adapted as a high-profile TV show, with plans to bring it to audiences around the world.
The newest game in the franchise - Mirror"s Edge Catalyst, which is effectively a reboot of the series - will be released next month. But as Deadline reports, Endemol Shine Studios has now acquired the rights to bring the city of Glass and its dystopian society to life on TV.
"We clearly see Mirror’s Edge as a franchise for the global TV audience," said Endemol Shine President, Sharon Hall. "It has a strong female protagonist, a wildly rabid fan base and a worldwide brand that Electronic Arts and EA DICE have done an amazing job establishing."
It"s not yet clear what form the TV adaptation will take, or how closely it will mirror (sorry) the events portrayed in the games. There"s also no word yet on when the new show is expected to arrive on our screens, and of course, it"s far too early to talk about which broadcasters or streaming services might get the rights to show it.
In the meantime, though, be sure to check out our first impressions of Mirror"s Edge Catalyst from last September for a flavor of what to expect from the new game, ahead of its release on June 7.
