Mixer subscriptions drop to $4.99 per month, matching Twitch's cheapest tier

Microsoft has been making big moves with Mixer in an attempt to stand up to rival Twitch, snatching two of the biggest names in streaming over the past couple of months. Now, the company is also making it easier for viewers to support streamers on Mixer by lowering the price of a Mixer subscription, which is now $4.99 instead of $5.99.

The new pricing matches that of a Tier 1 subscription on Twitch, which could be an incentive for viewers to support streamers on Mixer as well. However, Twitch offers more subscription tiers, so users can choose to contribute more money to streamers, something Mixer doesn"t have.

Good news everyone!

Starting today all subscriptions will now be changing from $5.99 to $4.99 going forward when subscribing to any of your favorite Partners! 💙 pic.twitter.com/bFVLF4YSdU

Microsoft"s service does offer other ways to support streamers, such as free contributions for Xbox Game Pass members, and a number of features introduced last year, which may or may not come at a cost to the viewer. However, it"s not quite as straightforward as a more expensive subscription. We"ll have to wait and see if Microsoft comes up with something along those lines.
