When Qualcomm first announced the Snapdragon Wear 4100, it said Mobvoi would be making the first device with the new chipset. Well, the TicWatch Pro 3 was announced today, and we"ve got our hands on one.
The first thing I noticed when putting it on is that it"s both comfortable and stylish. It feels light, and it"s not bulky. The silicone strap is comfortable as well, and it looks pretty with its orange stitching for decoration.
The second, and more important thing that I noticed is that this thing is fast. The reason that I say that that"s more important is because I wouldn"t typically say that about a Wear OS smartwatch. Typically, they don"t impress me. Remember, the previous generation Snapdragon Wear chipset, the 3100, uses Cortex-A7 cores. Cortex-A7 is a relic, and it hasn"t been used in a new smartphone chipset in ages.
The Snapdragon Wear 4100 is the first fundamental improvement to Wear OS smartwatch chipsets since the platform was introduced in 2014. Yes, it"s taken six years to get to Cortex-A53, but at least it"s here.
On top of all of that, Mobvoi has its own suite of Tic apps, which serve as an alternative to Google Fit. Check out the unboxing video below:
If you want to check out the TicWatch Pro 3, you can find it on Amazon here and on Mobvoi"s website here.
