More details have been gleaned on Qualcomm"s next midrange system on chip, the Snapdragon 670. The SoC will be present in a six+two configuration, will be built on a 10nm process, and contain an Adreno 615 GPU, according to the kernel source code.
The Snapdragon 670 will replace the current generation Snapdragon 660 and like it, the CPU core configuration will be present as a big.LITTLE setup. Unlike the 660 which had four low-end and four high-end cores, its successor will have two high-end customized Cortex A-75 cores, referred to as the Kryo 300 Gold architecture, and six low-end customized Cortex A-55 cores, the Kryo 300 Silver. The low-end cores will have a maximum clock speed of 1.7GHz with the high-end ones being clocked at 2.6GHz.
The SoC will have three levels of Cache with 32KB L1 cache, 128KB L2 cache per cluster, and 1024KB L3 cache for the whole System on a Chip. Unlike the previous leak, the GPU will not be an Adreno 620, but the 615, which will have a standard clock speed of 430MHz - 650MHz with a dynamic boost to 700MHz, and will support display resolutions up to 2560x1440.
The image signalling processor present will support dual-camera configurations, although the resolutions for cameras have not been detailed, Qualcomm"s reference design supports 13MP + 23MP sensors.
Although it is unclear when phones utilizing the SoC will launch, Qualcomm could unveil the chipset at MWC this month.
