The Windows 10 October 2018 Update hasn"t been short on issues. In fact, after Microsoft released it almost three weeks ago, the company ended up having to pull it from the Windows Update servers, and has been working to fix it ever since. Users on Reddit, however, have been reporting more issues over the last few days.
According to the report, extracting a ZIP file no longer shows the dialog box for if you want to replace files that are named the same as the ones being extracted. Instead, the file extraction either overwrites your files or fails without saying anything.
This isn"t the first file management issue to affect users of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update. The original issue that caused it to be pulled was that upgrading deleted some users" content in their known folders. As was the case then, this was also reported in the Feedback Hub months before release.
Microsoft has been working to fix the October 2018 Update, releasing cumulative updates to the Slow and Release Preview rings. Presumably, all of this could have avoided if the firm had just used the Release Preview ring before it initially rolled out the update, as that"s what the ring is there for. Some users might have been hoping that Microsoft re-releases the update this Tuesday, although that now seems somewhat unlikely.
