With Sony"s Playstation Network now up and running in some form in some parts of the world (Japan and other Asian nations are still in the dark) many PSN users have questions about various issues and concerns about the online console network. In the latest update on the official Playstation blog web site. Sony is attempting to answer at least some of these questions.
One of them concerns the Playstation Store, the online store that sells games via download along with offering game demos, arcade games and paid downloads of movies and TV shows. The Playstation Store is still offline for PSN users and there"s no word on when it will come back online. However Sony did post word today, "To catch up on the large amount of material, we’ll be publishing to the PlayStation Store multiple times per week once commerce functionality is restored." Usually Sony updates the Playstation Store on Tuesday and so far PSN owners have not been able to download the releases of downloadable games like Under Siege along with the demo for MotorStorm Apocalypse.
PSN users who also subscribe to the premium PlayStation Plus service should not have to worry about missing their free games that were previously slated to be made available on April 26. Sony said, "We will be picking back up with the PlayStation Plus content calendar where we left off to ensure that you won’t miss out on anything."
In addition, PSN users who were signed up to try the beta for inFAMOUS 2 should be happy with Sony saying that the game"s developer Sucker Punch "... is evaluating extending the inFAMOUS 2 beta, as well as expanding its scope." Players of SOCOM 4 which was released just a day before the PSN shut down, should also be pleased with Sony saying that the game"s developer Zipper Interactive "... will announce details on activities to re-engage fans of SOCOM 4 who have patiently waited to play online." Finally players of Call of Duty Black Ops who missed a double XP online weekend have been told that developer Treyarch "... have ensured that all Call of Duty: Black Ops fans will get an extra Double XP event as soon as PSN comes back online."
