More Surface Hub 2 details coming soon as Microsoft announces new April event

Microsoft announced the Surface Hub 2, its 50-inch giant computer for collaborative spaces, all the way back in May of last year, and later revealed that it would be launching two models of the device, the Surface Hub 2S and 2X. Until now, however, we haven"t heard much in the way of details, aside from the fact that the former is coming sometime this year, while the latter is scheduled for 2020.

As reported by Brad Sams of Petri, Microsoft is sending out invites to an event taking place next month, and it"s expected that the company will talk more about its collaborative computers. The event will take place in New York on April 17.

It"s also not clear if we"ll be hearing a lot about the Surface Hub 2X, since that model isn"t expected until next year. Most likely, this event will focus on the 2S variant, which skips out on capabilities such as tiling, which lets you use multiple Surface Hub 2"s as a single panel, or screen rotation.

For now, all we can do is wait for the event so we can have more information about the devices. Aside from the screen size and resolution, most of the specs and features of the Surface Hub 2 are still unknown, so it should be interesting to see.
