If you downloaded an illegal copy of the cell phone game Mosquitos you may have some problems. Pirated versions of Mosquitos send out premium rate text messages while the game is being played. This problem only affects phones running Symbian OS Series 60.
Earlier this week it was reported that this problem was a Trojan virus. When in fact it"s not a Trojan horse at all. The reason for this is because the pirated version is using SMS messaging. The company that created the game included a program that secretly sent a SMS message if the game being played was pirated. Sounds like a good idea, but as you can imagine this feature was pulled from later releases of the game due to complaints. However the pirated version of Mosquitos still has this feature, and has been exploited.
It"s pretty easy to tell if you have an illegal copy of this game. During startup the game will display this message "This version has been cracked by SODDOM BIN LOADER No rights reserved. Pirate copies are illegal and offenders will have lotz of phun!!!" In order to remove the pirated Mosquitos game, simply delete it as you would any other game.
Interestingly enough the person(s) responsible for releasing the illegal version of Mosquitos did not mess with the SMS. Either they didn"t know or didn"t care. Still it"s good to know that removing this illegal program is a painless process, and most importantly it doesn"t destroy your valuable information.
