Earlier this week, Motorola announced the Droid Turbo 2, the world’s first smartphone with a “shatterproof” display. It seemed like a Verizon exclusive, but today, the company announced that it will be launching the same handset, albeit under a different name, outside the United States. Meet the Moto X Force.
The Moto X Force will go on sale in the UK from mid-November at a price point of £499 for 32GB version, and £534 for 64GB variant. It will also be sold through retailer Carphone Warehouse for £29.99 upfront and £32.00 per month under a two-year contract from Vodafone. The company says that the Moto X Force will come to Latin America, Middle East, Europe, and Asia Pacific regions next month.
The device comes with a 5.4-inch WQHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) "ShatterShield" display. The company says that the display consists of five different layers that absorb shock. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2GHz, paired with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB storage option. There’s a 3760mAh battery which can last for 48 hours under “mixed use,” the company claims.
Other features include a 21-megapixel rear-camera with an f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor with flash and an f/2.0 aperture. The handset ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, and is expected to include less bloatware than its Verizon counterpart.
