Motorola has today announced the RAZR i smartphone, a revamp of the Droid RAZR M. While the devices look identical, inside the RAZR i sits a Intel Atom processor, the first with a 2GHz clock speed according to the chip maker. This makes it the second smartphone to feature Intel"s new processor, after Orange"s San Diego phone.
The device has a 4.3" qHD Super AMOLED Advanced display (540 x 960) with Corning Gorilla Glass, 1GB of RAM, 5GB internal memory (expandable via microSD card), a rear camera that has an 8-megapixel sensor, LED flash, 1080p video, and unlike the RAZR M, a hardware shutter button. Motorola claims the camera can start up in under a second. The battery is a 2000 mAh, which Motorola says should last around 20 hours based on an average user profile that includes usage and standby. The device will ship with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, however it will be upgradable to Jelly Bean.
The device will be available in the UK, France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina in October. It will be available at Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin Media, Phones4U, and Tesco Stores in the UK. In Germany it will be available at Sparhandy, Phone House, E+, and o2. No pricing has yet been announced.
