Social media giant, Facebook, has been going on a tangent to buy out other companies, such as WhatsApp, Oculus, and most recently Moves. With Facebook changing some of their policies recently, the popular fitness app has followed suit and changed their terms of use and privacy policies.
The information they collect as stated in their privacy policy includes: Accelerometer samples, Wi-Fi network IDs, activity data, and places you identify in the Moves app. They state that the main purpose of their service "is to provide you with an easy way to track how and where you move in your everyday life," and that this data is sent over a secure connection.
They also collect cookies, and other personally identifiable files. The company says that "Third parties may also use cookies to collect information about your activities on our website." Further, they may share data with their Affiliates(including Facebook.) The company also states that if they sell, merge, or go bankrupt, they may disclose and transfer personally identifiable information to the company that acquires them.
Though this is a bit startling after Facebook, who hasn"t had a liked past with their privacy policies, they have added in their new policy that you may download the data they collect when you log onto the Moves website, and may also choose to delete your account as well as your information if you do not approve of their changed privacy policy.
