Mozilla officially introduces new logos for the Firefox family

Today, Mozilla officially announced its new family of logos for Firefox apps and services, which includes for the first time a parent logo for the entire family of products. The new branding comes almost a year after Firefox began asking its users to help the organization choose the direction to take with its design.

There"s more than new icons in the new Firefox brand, too. Mozilla says the update also includes a new color palette, a new shape, and a modern typeface. The team is also emphasizing accessibility, adopting "accessible color and type standards to make the brand open to everyone, everywhere".

Mozilla felt the need to evolve the Firefox brand due to the increased scope of the services and products it offers. These include an encrypted file-sharing service and a password manager, and Mozilla says that"s just the beginning of the Firefox family. With the new branding, Mozilla hopes to make it easier to take the Firefox brand further, with changes to the color palette making it easier to adapt the brand to new products, for example.

Of course, this whole process asked for the involvement of the community from the start, and Mozilla realizes the new branding isn"t perfect yet. The team will be listening for feedback on how to improve the Firefox brand.
