Earlier this summer, Mozilla released Firefox Preview, an in-development web browser that will eventually replace Firefox for Android. Mozilla has published the latest update of Firefox Preview in the last day, version 1.3, which includes several major stability and bug fixes, as well as a new search widget which can be added to the Android home screen.
Mozilla has been issuing new point releases for its Firefox Preview browser roughly every two weeks with each update making the browser more stable and feature-filled. In the new update, now available on the Google Play Store, users can add a Firefox Preview search widget to the home screen, letting you start searching more quickly.
To add the widget to your home screen, tap on an empty spot on the home screen, tap ‘Widgets’, select ‘Firefox Preview’ as your search widget. You can press and hold the widget when it’s on your home screen to move it somewhere else or to resize it. Depending on the size of the widget you can do several things with it including tapping the microphone to use voice search, tapping the search box to type a search query, or tapping the widget icon to launch Firefox Preview.
If you previously tried Firefox Preview but came across any crashes or other issues now may be a good time to take another look at the browser.
