Mphasis, an Indian IT solutions provider, has announced the implementation of Microsoft’s Power Apps to ensure the safety of its employees and maintain productivity during remote working necessitated by the pandemic. The solution - Employee Outreach - tracks the health of employees and their families without compromising on privacy, enables them with work from home facilities, monitors their attendance and work hours, and resolves IT complaints.
According to Nitin Rakesh, Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director, Mphasis, the idea was to create an easily integrated system that can track the overall health of the employees and measure their productivity without violating their personal space.
Microsoft Power Apps is a low-code platform for building and using custom business apps that connect to data without the time and expense of custom software development. According to a company spokesperson, Employee Outreach was developed by a team of two developers using the crisis communications template of Power Apps in just four days, and over 26,000 employees are already using the app daily.
Every morning, the employees share an update on their health and that of their families – before and after their work shifts. In the event they report any kind of distress, an email is triggered to their manager to arrange for the necessary support required. Employees can also alert the IT team if they are not enabled to work from home and need a resolution.
Due to the mandatory work-from-home scenario, the app allows the management at Mphasis to reach out to everyone, every day, and ensure they were safe and in good health.
