MSI today announced that it is updating its AMD lineup of Bravo 15 gaming laptops. The company launched the Bravo 15 models based on the Ryzen 4000 H-series mobile APUs last year. But since then, AMD has released its Ryzen 5000 mobile APUs codenamed Cezanne which feature the improved Zen 3 architecture. As a result, MSI is refreshing its Bravo 15 models with the newer 45W 5000 H-series parts and promises a 15% improvement in performance over the last-gen models. Sadly, the graphics side of the new Bravo 15 sees no change as it still has the older RDNA 1-based Radeon RX 5500M GPU and it would have been great to see something like an RX 6600M instead.
When it comes to memory, the laptop supports dual channel 3200MHz RAM and packs a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe slot. For cooling all the components, Bravo 15 features MSI"s Cooler Boost 5 solution that has redesigned heat pipes, six of them in total. The heat pipes are cooled down by a standard dual fan configuration.
Moving on from the internals, the Bravo 15 has a 15.6" FHD IPS display with an improved 144Hz refresh rate compared to last year"s models that had 120Hz. The keyboard is red backlit, the webcam supports 720p@30fps, and the laptop has an HDMI display out which can output 4K@60Hz. Meanwhile, on the audio side, it packs dual 2W speakers which are driven by Nahimic 3 Audio Enhancer.
In terms of connectivity, the Bravo 15 features a Gigabit Ethernet port, an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 module, and Bluetooth v5.2. As for USB connectivity, it packs:
- 1 x USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C
- 2 x USB3.2 Gen1 Type-A
- 1 x USB2.0 Type-A
Gaming laptops are generally heavy and the Bravo 15 is no exception as it comes in at 2.3Kg. You can find MSI"s original press release here.
