It"s Computex week, and just about every computer and component manufacturer has had a lot to announce so far. For the gaming crowd, MSI has unveiled a couple of new beastly gaming laptops, the GT76 Titan and the GE65 Raider, which should offer some serious levels of performance thanks to the impressive specs and cooling capabilities.
The real star of the show is the GT76 Titan, and that"s because it ships with Intel"s desktop Core i9-9900K CPU, which has eight cores that can be overclocked to 5GHz out of the box, plus Nvidia"s GeForce RTX 2080 GPU for graphics. It supports up to 128GB of RAM, and it has two PCIe Gen3/SATA combo slots for SSDs, an addition PCIe Gen3 slot for another SSD, and an HDD.
Of course, to keep all of that running without melting, MSI had to use some serious cooling technology, and the GT76 Titan has 11 copper pipes going around for heat dissipation and a total of four fans running. The entire bottom of the laptop is one big grill for air intake, and there are five radiators on the sides and back of the machine to expel hot air.
The 17.3-inch display can be either a 4K one with 60Hz refresh rate, or you can go for a 1080p panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. They"re both IPS LCD, so there"s no OLED here. Aside from that, the laptop has all the bells and whistles you"d expect, with per-key RGB lighting on the keyboard and also under the front side of the laptop.
If that"s a little too much for you, MSI also has the new GE65 Raider, which tones things down a bit. It has up to a Core i9 processor, too, but it"s an H-series one, so you won"t be able to overclock it. It also brings down the GPU to either an RTX 2060 or 2070, and only supports up to 64GB of RAM. For storage, you get two NVMe PCIe Gen3 slots for SSDs, one of which also supports SATA, and one HDD.
It still has some impressive cooling, and a large portion of its underside being a grill for air intake, but it"s not quite as significant as the GT76.
The display is smaller, too, at 15.6 inches, but it does have a very high 240Hz refresh rate, which some might prefer. As you"d probably expect, though, it"s only Full HD.
Aside from gaming, MSI also released new Prestige laptops for content creators at Computex 2019. Those are the P65 Creator and P75 Creator, and they come with Nvidia"s RTX graphics, too.
MSI didn"t specify when the products will be available to buy, nor how much they will cost, but the product pages for the GT76 Titan, GE65 Raider, P65 Creator, and P75 Creator are now live. The latter two already have some retailers listed for purchase, but you may need to wait to buy the gaming-oriented models.
