MySpace: We'll Crush YouTube

So what is the logic behind this claim? Well, News Corp."s CEO claims that ~60% of YouTube"s traffic comes from MySpace. Assuming this statistic is correct, MySpace has a very good foothold in the online video uploading market, if it"s good enough. The idea is to take as much of the market share from YouTube as possible, by cutting out the middle man. That"s not the end of it either. If they"re gonna go for YouTube, why not hit Photobucket, ImageShack and Flickr at the same time? Let"s not forget that since Facebook is promoting iTunes, MySpace is partnering with Snocap and sells tracks via MySpace Music.

Widgets are the customizable present and future of the internet. Naturally, MySpace has hundreds of external tools that connect to other sites that are not owned by MySpace. And yet, without MySpace they wouldn"t be getting half the traffic they are now. Are widgets another thing MySpace should jump on? Or, is MySpace trying too much at once? Can MySpace really put a dent in YouTube"s market?
