Mystery LG handset uncovered; features Snapdragon 845, notched POLED display, and more

V30

Last year, LG released its V30 handset and although it was fairly well received, didn"t manage to usurp Samsung from its Android throne. Although it has yet to be confirmed, LG will most likely announce a successor to the V30, some speculating that it will be called the V40 ThinQ. While we patiently wait for the handset to arrive, it looks like a new high-end device from LG has been discovered.

According to XDA Developers, whose members have sifted through obtained firmware files, there is a device codenamed "judypn", that is powered by Qualcomm"s Snapdragon 845 processor. The mystery device does share a lot of the same code as the V35 ThinQ and G7 ThinQ, and will apparently have a POLED display with a notch. The smartphone will also have a dedicated hardware button for Google Assistant.

While the team speculates that this could be the V40 ThinQ, there is evidence that suggests it could be something different, mainly due to discrepancies found in the code with regards to the camera. The LG V40 ThinQ has been rumored to have three camera sensors on the rear and a dual camera setup on the front. The firmware shows that judypn features a dual camera on the rear with a single camera on the front.

Over time, more details will likely be revealed. But for now, we will just have to ponder on the alleged details for LG"s next V-series device.
