Naughty Dog co-founder Jason Rubin new THQ president

Just a few days away from E3 2012, THQ revealed a big shake up in its executive ranks. The publisher announced today that it has hired Jason Rubin, who previously -co-founded the acclaimed game developer Naughty Dog, to be its new President.

Rubin helped to form Naughty Dog in 1986 but it wasn"t until the 1990s that the developer got lots of notice thanks to the Crash Bandicoot series of games. Rubin also lead the company as it made the PS2 exclusive games in the Jak and Daxter series.

Rubin departed Naughty Dog in 2004, before the developer released the three games in the PS3 exclusive Uncharted action-adventure series. Since then Rubin has, among other things, written a comic book, Iron and the Maiden, and helped to fund small Internet startup and gaming companies.

THQ also announced today that it has named Jason Kay, who co-founded the start up Flektor with Rubin, as its new Chief Strategy Officer. Two more THQ executives, Danny Bilson and Dave Davis, have now parted ways with the company.

The publisher has already announced it will scale back its E3 2012 presence with no massive booth display in the LA Convention Center next week. However, the company will still be showing upcoming games in a meeting room behind closed doors.
