NEC's new LAVIE PCs include an eight-inch mini PC with Tiger Lake processors

LAVIE MINI

If you"re unfamiliar with NEC Personal Computers Ltd, it"s a joint venture between NEC and Lenovo to bring NEC to a broader audience. It first debuted at last year"s CES, and this year, it"s back with two new PCs.

First up is the new LAVIE MINI, and it"s called the MINI for good reason. The display is just eight inches, coming in with 1920x1200 resolution. But despite the small form factor, it still has Intel"s 11th-generation processors with Iris Xe graphics, so you can still get some real performance out of it. Coming in a Crystal White color and weighing just 1.28 pounds, it also comes with a 26WHr battery, up to 256GB SSD, and up to 16GB LPDDR4 RAM.

The logo on the lid actually lights up while in use, and there"s also a range of accessories. There"s a dock with an HDMI cable that you can use to watch movies, and there"s also a Gaming Controller that clamps onto the sides. Indeed, the LAVIE MINI should offer the FHD gaming promised by Intel"s Iris Xe graphics, and of course, Microsoft"s Xbox game streaming will be a natural use case.

LAVIE Pro Mobile

And then there"s the new LAVIE Pro Mobile, which weighs in at just 1.95 pounds. One of the issues with last year"s model is that it still had eighth-generation processors, but now it has the latest 11th-gen chips. It also now comes in Navy Blue, whereas the one announced last year at CES came in Classic Bordeaux.

Right now, the LAVIE MINI is being called a prototype, so pricing and availability isn"t being announced. The new LAVIE Pro Mobile will start at $1,699.99, but availability will be announced later.
