Need for Speed Payback confirmed for Project Scorpio and PS4 Pro; Switch version unlikely

The latest addition to EA"s Need for Speed franchise was showcased at the publisher"s EA Play Event with a brand new gameplay trailer, seen above. Although Need for Speed: Payback was confirmed to arrive for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 earlier this month, now talking with GameSpot, the game"s executive producer Marcus Nilsson had some more details to add regarding the platforms on which the high-octane racer will be available on.

When asked if Microsoft"s upcoming Project Scorpio console and PlayStation 4 Pro will be supported, Nilsson had said that "Both of those platforms will be supported". As to what kinds of improvements players can expect from these versions, the developer didn"t elaborate. However, with Microsoft"s new console to be finally unveiled at its E3 conference later today, we will most probably get more information there.

Meanwhile, Nilsson was asked if the game had a chance of coming to the Nintendo Switch, to which he replied there are no plans to do so for now. "Would that be a platform that Need for Speed Payback could run on? I don"t see why [not], but it"s not something we"re looking to at this very moment," added the statement.

Although most games from EA"s presentation don"t seem like they will arrive for the Switch, the publisher did confirm a toned down FIFA 18 for the Nintendo console.

Need for Speed Payback is said to feature the "most diverse, open-world", and the deepest customization ever seen in the series, with EA showcasing a highway heist mission at its EA Play event yesterday.

All in all, Need for Speed Payback will be available on November 10 for PC, Project Scorpio, Xbox One, as well as PlayStation 4 and Pro.
