A new Need for Speed game was confirmed by the current series developer Ghost Games last month. Although not much information was provided, the developer did confirm the game will not include always-online requirements. Today came the upcoming racing game"s full reveal, titled Need for Speed Payback, with a brand new trailer, seen above, showcasing plenty of action-packed racing expected from the series.
The game seems to have a heavy focus on its storyline, where players will be taking the roles of three characters, Tyler, Mac, and Jess, who are in a "quest for vengeance against The House," a criminal cartel in the city of Fortune Valley. The game will see the return of police pursuits as well as the new addition of heist missions.
The announcement also goes on to say the game will feature the most comprehensive car customization ever seen in the series, where players could essentially turn an old neglected vehicle into a high-end racing machine.
Ghost Games executive producer, Marcus Nilsson had some big promises regarding the game, saying it will "challenge what players expect from racing games". He added that the developer is focused on delivering what fans love about the Need for Speed franchise: "the deepest customization, an impressive roster of cars, intense races and open world pursuits".
Need for Speed Payback is slated to be available on November 10 worldwide, for PC via Origin, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Of course, as an EA published game, EA Access and Origin Access members will be receiving a 10-hour trial starting November 2, and also a 10% discount when purchasing the digital version.
