NeoBytes :) First official POTUS Twitter account exchange trolls a former President

NeoBytes :) is an occasional feature that takes a step back from the big headlines, to take a look at what else is happening in the vast, scary expanse of the tech world - often with a cynical eye, always with a dose of humour.

Hello, Twitter! It"s Barack. Really! Six years in, they"re finally giving me my own account.

— President Obama (@POTUS) May 18, 2015

The President of the United States finally has an official Twitter account, and in case you were wondering, the handle "comes with the house" and isn"t under the ownership of Barack Obama, as former U.S. President, Bill Clinton, learned -- perhaps the hard way, through a tweet exchange with the sitting President.

Good question, @billclinton. The handle comes with the house. Know anyone interested in @FLOTUS?

— President Obama (@POTUS) May 18, 2015

Obama"s remark is clearly a reference to Hillary Clinton"s bid for the Democratic ticket for Presidential candidate in the 2016 race, and we have to wonder, should Hillary win, if Bill will actually have to make use of @FLOTUS, or if the current user of @FGOTUS can be persuaded in some way to hand the account over.

In any case, we think Obama got off to a great start on Twitter.
