Of all the remote controls and PC peripherals they had on display, perhaps the most intriguing Logitech display was that of the Easy Call Desktop and QuickCam Ultra Vision. Featuring a wireless keyboard, wireless laser mouse, speaker phone and headset, the Easy Call Desktop is targeted at the user who likes to make internet voice calls with applications like Skype. The keyboard was nicely laid out and the keys were very responsive. The mouse, though smooth, did feel a little uncomfortable on the left side of my hand (I am right handed) and looked a little on the cheap side. The same can be said about the somewhat flimsy headset. The speakerphone, though, felt very well built and was of ample size.
Also shown off on the same PC was the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision. The camera is very sleek and was firmly clipped onto the LCD monitor. The image quality was impressive, to say the least. Movements were shown smoothly and color richness was better than most other web cameras I have seen. I"m going to go out on a limb and say that the glass lens played a large role in the quality of the image because it really was worth noticing.
I almost never make internet phone calls, so the Easy Call Desktop would be of little use to me, though I do love the keyboard. However, if you do find yourself opening Skype quite often, you may want to take a look at the desktop package, that is, if you can convince yourself to part with $129 US.
On the flip side, if you"re a video conference person and just have to see the people you"re talking to, you better get yourself that QuickCam Ultra Vision. That way, even when you"re in your pajamas, you will look crystal clear.
