Netflix confirms third season of House of Cards

The Netflix original series House of Cards has been confirmed for its third season and has been given an official release date. On February 27, 2015 the twisted tale of Frank Underwood (played by Kevin Spacey) and his path to the White House continues in what has become one of the most popular television shows around.

The announcement of the third season was made today via the House of Cards Twitter page, where both a teaser announcement and a video announcement were tweeted out. The short web video depicts both Frank and Claire Underwood climbing the boarding stairs to Airforce One. Given the events of the previous season, it looks as though the series will pick up right where the show left off.

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina of the political punk-rock protest group Pussy Riot have been confirmed to be joining the show. Tolokonnikova and Alyokhinamade made headlines in early 2012 when they were arrested along with another band member for staging a performance in Moscow"s Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The three members of Pussy Riot were later convicted of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred", a crime that carried a two year prison sentence and Russian president Vladimir Putin"s endorsement.

House of Cards is currently available exclusively through Netflix"s streaming service, which recently introduced a $3 increase for 4K streaming capabilities.
