It looks like Netflix is currently down, at least in the U.S and in Europe. The outage map on Downdetector (spotted by WindowsCentral) shows that regions in Europe and some parts of the U.S. are affected by the outage, with the majority of reports coming in from Europe.
Users are reporting an "HTP-500" error, which, according to the service’s help center points to a network connectivity issue. The full description reads “It typically points to a network connectivity issue that is preventing your device from reaching the Netflix service. Follow the troubleshooting steps for your device below to resolve the issue.”

The firm acknowledged the issue on its official customer support account on Twitter and added that the company is working towards a fix. User reports and tweets suggest that the mobile apps aren’t affected by this issue and that it is just the web app that is being affected.
The streaming service recently reduced its streaming bit rates in Europe to compensate for the increased consumption and the resulting strain on internet networks in that region. It is not clear if the outage today has to do with high traffic, or if there are some other reasons. Therefore, if you are experiencing issues with streaming content on Netflix, especially on the web, you are not alone. The fix should likely be in place sooner than later.
